Arterium portfolio was supplemented with Volutan solution for infusion
In January 2014, Arterium has launched on the market medicinal product Volutan, 6% solution for infusion. The product is manufactured in 400 ml and 500 ml vials and represents a generic equivalent of the reference product Refortan (manufactured by BERLIN-CHEMIE AG (MENARINI GROUP), Germany). This medicinal product belongs to the following pharmacological group: blood substitutes and perfusion solutions; hydroxyethylated starch preparations.
The product is intended for prevention of hypovolemia (decrease of circulating blood volume) and therapy of shock caused by various reasons, for example, surgery, burn, or injury. The product is also effective for therapy of preoperative hemodilution (decrease of blood erythrocyte level), hemodilution in intermittent claudication (due to blood circulation disorders in lower extremities), and therapy of ischemic stroke in acute phase.
Urgency of a medicinal product of this class is confirmed by official statistics data in Ukraine: about 15-25 thousand people are exposed to burns, and more than 2 million people are exposed to injuries per year. Volutan may be prescribed to patients depending on various parameters characterizing clinical situation in the above pathologies.
Registration certificate holder for the product is Galychpharm PJSC, and manufacture is contracted to LLC Novofarm-Biosynthesis.
