TIOCETAM® FORTE

Composition

1 tablet contains 0.1 g of thiotriazoline, equivalent to 100% substance, 0.4 g of piracetam, equivalent to 100% substance;

excipients: potato starch, mannitol, powdered sugar, magnesium stearate, low molecular weight polyvinyl pyrrolidone (medical grade), coating mixture.

Indications

Tiocetam® forte is used in neurological practice for transient and chronic cerebrovascular disorders associated with cerebral atherosclerosis and transient disturbances of brain circulation.The drug is also indicated for cerebrovascular disorders, disturbances of brain metabolism attributable to head injury, intoxication, diabetic encephalopathy, as well as during subacute and the rehabilitation period after ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes.

Contraindications

Acute renal failure, allergic reaction to the drug, pregnancy and lactation.

Dosage and administration

Tiocetam ® forte tablets should be taken 30 minutes before meals.

The usual dose is 1 tablet 3 times daily for 25 - 30 days. For transient and chronic cerebrovascular disorders and during the rehabilitation period after ischemic or hemorrhagic strokes - 2 tablets 3 times daily. The duration of treatment ranges from 2-3 weeks to 3-4 months.

For diabetic encephalopathy, patients should be prescribed 1 tablet 3 times daily over 45 days.

Side effects

Tiocetam ® forte is well tolerated. Some patients may develop reactions attributable to side effects of piracetam: agitation, sleep disturbance or drowsiness, tremor, dizziness, dyspepsia. Aggravation of coronary insufficiency may develop in the elderly. In such case, the dose should be reduced or the drug should be discontinued.
